Legionella risk assessment
Legionnaires’ disease is a lung infection (pneumonia) and can be contracted via untreated water. The risk of catching Legionnaires’ disease is minimal but it is a Company’s responsibility to ensure that water in the work place is kept safe.
Source of the infection can be found in any system that generates an aerosol type spray such as cooling towers, air conditioning humidifiers, spa baths, showers, water fountains and irrigation systems.

A Legionella risk assessment is the first step toward a treatment and water hygiene program and compliance with the Health and Safety Executives Legionella approved code of practice and guidance document, ACOP L8.
