North London Collegiate School Plant Room
Project Description
To remove six existing Hoval Boilers which were inefficient and old and replace with two new larger Ideal Commercial Boilers.
Challenge
As with most public service buildings there was a short time frame to complete the works. Our client; a school based in North London, had requested a completion date within three weeks over the school summer holiday.
Difficulties faced
Upon commencement of the work; the existing pipework was frail and rotten and older than the boilers. The whole system needed to be replaced.
Solution
Aquatech installed new Ideal boilers and Riello burners coupled with the commissioning of a new pressurisation system.
The new ‘configuration’ affords one boiler to work at any given time. Whilst power consumption is kept very low. When the temperature is cold both boilers can be fired to keep the ‘load’ down for each one.
The advantage of this of course is that if something goes wrong in the future then ‘down time’ is significantly reduced and the updated system is more resilient and incorporates a spare boiler as back up.
The footprint for the new boilers is smaller, which means there is extra storage space available for the School.
How long did it take?
Completion of the project was three weeks; the deadline given to us by the School.
